Photo exhibition "Yol bir sürek binbir - Der alevitische Glauben als ein Weg zur Vervollkommnung des Menschen?"

21.03.2024

The Chair of Alevi Theological Studies at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies at the University of Vienna cordially invites you to the vernissage of the photo exhibition "Yol bir sürek binbir - The Alevi faith as a path to human perfection?" on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 5.30pm.

In this exhibition, photographer Seda Erol provides an insight into the rich traditions and sacred places of the Alevi faith. Most of the 16 pictures were taken on a pilgrimage through Anatolia in October 2022 and at a Cem service in Vienna in 2019. They are a testimony to the fact that Alevi traditions - across transnational borders - continue to be lived without being known to the wider public. The vernissage will be accompanied by music by Meltem Baykal and Şeyda Aktaş.

For our guests who are fasting, there will be a culinary buffet to break the fast.

For the detailed program, please refer to this PDF file (in German).

Please contact Heidemarie Sonntag by March 18, 2024 to let her know whether you will be attending the vernissage.

The photo exhibition has been extended until 15 May!
