The subject of "Pastoral Theology" celebrates its 250th anniversary this year. It was established in 1774 at the University of Vienna by the then Abbot of Prague, Franz Stephan Rautenstrauch, on behalf of Empress Maria Theresa.

To mark the occasion, the Research Area of Pastoral Theology is organising a symposium on topics that are currently being researched; on the other hand, a festive evening event will bring together people who are connected to the department and its subject in different ways. Prof. Aslan will represent our Department in the panel "Sozioreligiöse Transformation und die Zukunft des christlichen Glaubens" [Socioreligious Transformation and the Future of Christian Faith] (26 November at 9.15 am).
