Today marks 26 years from the politically and religiously motivated arson attack on the cultural festival celebrating the Alevi Poet Pir Sultan Abdal in the town of Sivas in Central Anatolia.

33 artists, scientists, and intellectuals fell victim to the pogrom. Among them was the poet and musician Nesimi Çimen.
