The keynote will be given by the Director of the Orient Institute Istanbul, Prof. Dr. Raoul Motika. The subject Alevi Theological Studies was introduced at the University of Vienna in the autumn of 2018. It is one of the first internationally university-affiliated theological subjects that has Alevism as its research and teaching subject from its religious self-conceptions. With a number of about 1.5-2 million Alevis and their migration history of about 60 years in the European context, a new academic subject is being created at the University of Vienna.
