The Austrian Science Forum Islam and Society (Österreichisches Wissenschaftsforum Islam und Gesellschaft; ÖWIG) wants to participate through scientific contributions in the discussion about the challenges of Islam and about the process of Muslims putting down roots in Europe and Austria and aims to support the dialogue between the various social groups, participants and institutions.
In addition to these functions, ÖWIG sees itself as a representative of the interests of Islamic theological and religious education institutes in Austria and supports the cooperation between the respective institutions. Through this, it wants to contribute to the internal dialogue of the Muslim community, in its pluralism and heterogeneity.
