Saying farewell to colleagues

01.10.2024

After many years of working together, we have to say goodbye to four of our colleagues this semester.

Dr. Cem Kara, who has not only made an important contribution to the establishment of Alevi Theology for years, but has also taken on the role of Directorate of Studies with great commitment and invested a great deal of energy in this task, left us at the end of September. On the one hand, Dr. Kara's departure is very regrettable; on the other hand, we are delighted that he has accepted a professorship at the University of Hamburg. We are convinced that our scientific collaboration with him will continue.

Dr. Ahmed Gad Makhlouf, who contributed to the success of theological teaching with his expertise in difficult times, has also left the Department. As with Dr. Kara, we are delighted that Dr. Gad Makhlouf has accepted an appointment to a W3 professorship at the renowned University of Göttingen. We will certainly remain in contact with him and will not forget his achievements in teaching and research.

Our visiting professor Dr. Aysun Yaşar has also left us for Switzerland after her visiting professorship. Dr. Yaşar has quickly made her work known at various universities in Austria and represented our Department in a worthy manner at many meetings. In addition, she has supervised several Master's theses in a short space of time and led them to success.

Our long-time university assistant Tamara Nili-Freudenschuß has left us after completing her dissertation. She has completed her dissertation under difficult conditions, which provides important information on improving the quality of Islamic religious education and forms an important basis for further research. We are convinced that she will continue her academic career with her high-quality work at national and international level.

We wish all these colleagues all the best in their future careers! Our Department will always be grateful to them. We hope that our paths in research and teaching will cross again soon.
